Quality & Custom Design
Our Quality Guarantee
All Kian Design jewellery is made to the highest manufacturing standards and with quality diamonds and gemstones. Our diamond suppliers warrant that they have purchased their diamonds from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions and the World Diamond Council's System of Warranties. The specialist manufacturers we engage are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council and also follow sourcing procedures that are fully compliant with the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance and OECD Due Diligence Guidance for the Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals.
Custom Designs
At the heart of Kian Design is our love of creating unique and special custom designs. The process is very straight forward and enjoyable. The first step is to come in for an appointment, and if that is not possible then you can simply email us. Bring in or send your idea, picture or whatever inspiration you have. Discuss with us about your preferred metal, what gemstone(s) you’d like, your finger size, and let us know if there is a particular date you’d like to have the piece completed by, and also your approximate budget. Once we’ve had this conversation, we will provide you with an estimate.
At this point there may or not be some minor changes made to the project, after these are confirmed, we will provide you with a quotation containing a complete description of your jewellery, with all characteristics listed, and its final price. Once the details of the quotation are agreed upon, we request a down payment of approximately 20% of the total.
Upon receipt of your down payment, we purchase your gemstones and create your design. We are able to provide you with a computer-generated design that is easily viewed by e-mail. At this time, designs are still quite easy to alter; so should you require any changes just let us know and we’ll send the new, modified version. We use 3-D programs to create a wireframe model with state-of-the-art NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B–Splines) technology. NURBS is a mathematical representation for creating smooth curves and surfaces. The wireframe looks like an exact photographic rendering of the design and because you examine the actual computer-created model before it is cast, you’re part of every stage of the creative process from 2-D to 3-D.
We begin to make your jewellery only after you approve the final design and this takes approximately 3 weeks.
